"The Busy Trap."
I've stopped asking business owners how business is going.
The answer is always busy.
Busy is the default. Busy feels like progress. Busy is comfortable.
But I've sat with enough P&Ls to know busy and profitable are two completely different things.
The most financially stressed operators I work with are often the busiest. Fully booked. Owner at 55 hours. Team stretched.
6% net profit at year end.
All that activity. That outcome.
When a business runs at full capacity, owners stop selecting work. Take what comes. Quote to win not to profit. Rework creeps in. Underperforming clients stay because there's no time to manage them out.
Capacity becomes the trap.
Is your business busy, or is it profitable?
