Fully Booked Isn't The Goal. Profitable Is. - Profit Tip #25 of 99

I've sat with businesses running flat out. Owner at 55 hrs a week. Team stretched. Work everywhere.

Net profit at year end: 6%.

All THAT work. For THAT crappy outcome.

When you're at capacity you stop selecting work. You take what comes.

Quote to win, not to profit. Rework creeps in.

Bad clients stay because there's no time to manage them out.

A $1.5m business at 40% gross margin makes more money than a $2m business at 25%. Less work. Better result.

Pull your last 20 jobs. Calculate gross margin on each. Find the work worth doing. Then build around it.

What percentage of your current work do you actually want to be doing?
